Goulash With Red Wine

Serves 4      1½ hours cooking time

1½ pounds round steak
½ cup beef stock
pinch of white pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 dessertspoon oil
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup red wine
1 large onion

Combine stock and wine and warm in small pot. Cut meat into 1-inch slices and brown all over in heated oil. Add sliced onion and brown slightly. Blend together salt, pepper and paprika, then pour over warmed stock and wine. Bring to the boil then reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1½ hours.
Serve with rice, mashed potatoes or noodles.
